Studio Advisor Meeting

Studio Advisor Meeting - October 19th, 2015

Positive meeting about current direction of project.

In addition to discussion regarding my current work on research on narrative structure, including use of narrative schemas from Blake Snyder’s Save the Cat paradigm, we also talked about logistical work being done to secure rights to the novel the World. Caroline felt aspects of the work were evocative of the 60’s and 70s while still maintaining a certain freshness. I noted that while I did attempt to keep a sort of analog feel in the work, and am very concerned with the aesthetics of the late 60s/early 70s, that that was not a conscious intent with this work. Useful advice included considering deliberately borrowing from the visual (and music) aesthetic and ‘feeling of the 60s/70s for the work, which Caroline described as ‘Neo-psychedelic.’ There was also the suggestion that perhaps I might be able to identify music by a contemporary musical artist that has a similar 60’s/70/s sensibility. Caroline also suggested perhaps creating a sort of project dictionary unique to the work that would be used to record some of the unique phrasing and concepts developed as I articulate my practice. In addition, Caroline suggested checking out the work of Nina Fonoroff
